It was not a good year till now for Brian Joubert. In the European Chapmionship he ended up 3rd and his free program was a bit problematic, no matter how ravishing I thught he was. Also in the World Championship in Gotenborg he was in the 6th place after the short program. Signs were not that good for a world class athlete like he is. Of course sixth place was not as bad as it sounds since he was only five points behind Jeffrey Buttle who was leading. If you ve read other articles you can tell my facination with France’s great guy. He is one of the sexiest and wonderful athletes in figure skating. In a year were things didn’t work for a lot others… Stephane Lambiel actually never managed to pull through the jumps, Japan’s Daisuke Takahashi actually didn’t live up to expectations, while European Champion Thomas Verner didn’t show any of the qualities of his european presence.

So actually the Europeans were threatened by the anxious and a bit artistically fable, but still correct Johny Weir dancing to the soundtrack of Love is War. He was actually good but too much effort was obvious…

and he ended up third in the overall (2nd in the short programme, 4th in the free)

The fabulous and perfect Jeffrey Butlle from Canada. Butlle was first in the Short Program and came in really confident, taking no risk for the “fourtle” jump that was the wterloo of the previous athletes. Daced nice to the soundtrack of Ararat combining jumps with nice steps and was the sure winner, showing no actual effort when he flew, and taling the 1st place.

Still for me Joubert was something else, improving his free program, changing his costume, appearing reborn and presenting a wonderful program, though he simplified some od the jumps that caused him points. Still at the end of his program as i was watching him dance to Apocalyptica’s cover of Metallica songs, i was trying not to cry. He was into tears himself proving that he is one of the greatest and getting the 2nd place despite his 6th place in the short program. Nothing to say more…
