Mylene Farmer is one my favourites, i like her music, i love her pessimistic and cynical lyrics, her ease with sexual matters, not in the provocative-slutty way that Madonna includes in her songs and performances. Farmer is considered to be the French singing Madonna and the common points between them are a lot. Pop success, three decades of hits, great videos so close to art projects or to films. Of course Farmer never moved on to any international projects despite living for some years in California. She probabbly prefered to keep the creative control over her songs, than to try to battle Madonna in the international charts. She is still the most successful recording artist in France and ecery her song is an event in the french speaking countries.

Her last song though came as a shock as she once more changes a bit her route. Degeneration is closer to some songs of her previous albums that were never released as single, it’s more electro and full of sound effects, with only one piano used as a physical instrument. The lyrics are also hard to follow as they are more of a word-game. Still her hypnotic voice will made me love the song after hearing it more than once, and sometimes I love when my favourite artists try to do something different and not to play it safe all the time with their romo singles. Even if her new album Point de Suture is not what I am expecting, still Farmer shows that she is still creative and she is not based on the trend of the year. And contrary to Madonna’s latest lazy and rushed videos, Farmer still goes on delivering great videos, even if you don’t like the song you have to admit that this filmed orgy she delivers dressed like Milla Jovovich in Luc Besson’s Fifth Element is a great video, daring as always and pleasure for the eye (in any way you want). Dear Madonna you have to do something about your videos. And Mylene Farmer you are the reason to put tits on my blog, but the soldiers dropping their weapons and starting making out is so great, and still not that close to porn.
